TL;DR
- CCSA promises to allow nightlife venues to reopen this July 2020.
- Musicians and entertainers appealed to the Govt. to allow them to restart work.
Apart from delicious food and clear blue oceans, one of Bangkok’s main attraction is the bustling nightlife scene. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) made a verbal agreement to allow pubs, bars, karaoke parlours and other entertainment venues to reopen this July 2020. This comes after musicians appealed to the government by asking for pubs and bars to reopen so they can earn a living again.
Bangkok Nightlife Reopening To Be Confirmed This Friday
Deputy army chief and deputy chairman of CCSA, Gen Natthaphol Nakpanich, held a discussion with nightlife representatives last Sunday. He promised the representatives that they can reopen their business in the fifth phase of loosening Covid-19 restrictions, this July. There will be another meeting this Friday to confirm the situation.
Entertainers And Performers Have Had No Income For 3 Months
One of the participants of the meeting, Sanga Ruangwattanakul, CEO of Buddy Group, believes that Thailand is safe enough for bars to start operating as there has not been a single locally transmitted case of Covid-19 for 27 days.
“There are over 100,000 self-employed musicians who are struggling to survive because they can’t work. If they are still not allowed to work in pubs and restaurants, there should be measures from the government to help relieve their financial burden.” – Sanga Ruangwattanakul, CEO of Buddy Group
