Thai Government Suggested That The Delayed Songkran Holiday May Return In July 

Hello, our dearest foodies! Every country has been battling with COVID-19 since the start of 2020. In a blink of an eye, we are already halfway through the year. Social distancing and staying at home, many activities have been canceled too. One of which is the water splashing festival of Songkran. However, with lower COVID-19 cases, the Thai government is considering to bring back the festive Songkran holiday in July.

Delayed Songkran Holiday May Return In July

As the country shines through with low COVID-19 cases, Thailand has made a few announcements in the past few weeks. With plans of opening up the country in July and to promote local tourists with hotel discounts, here’s another exciting news to look forward to. The Thai government is now considering a long holiday in July to make up for the delayed Songkran festival!

Back in April, with the fear of exacerbating the Covid-19 outbreak, the Thai government has delayed the Songkran festival. Despite their previous plan to postpone from April until further notice, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has announced yesterday that it’s possible for Songkran to be held next month if the number of infections remains low. That is, to bring new Covid-19 cases to only one digit, or better at zero.

While these past few months have been slow and revolved around ‘staying at home’, it’s heartwarming to see that we have resulted in a very low COVID-19 case. Despite the specific dates of this year’s Songkran are yet to be confirmed. Let’s continue on this track and hope for the Songkran holiday to return in July!
